UFS 201- 1st Vocabulary Entry

1. A picture paints a thousand words.
    Meaning: describe how much one picture can capture the details of a moment in time more than words ever can.


2. Caught red-handed.
    Meaning: in the act of committing an action or criminal act.


3. My lips are sealed.
   Meaning: refuse to say anything on a specific topic.


4. Butterflies in my stomach.
    Meaning: to feel very nervous, usually about something you are going to do.


5. A wolf in a sheep's clothing.
    Meaning: someone who seems to be pleasant and friendly but is in fact dangerous or evil.


6. It is raining cats and dogs.
    Meaning: rain very heavily.


7. At the eleventh hour.
    Meaning: at the last minute; almost too late.


8. Action speaks louder than words.
    Meaning: what a person actually does is more important than what they say they will do.


9. Beat one's brains out.
    Meaning: try very hard to understand or do something.


10. Break a leg.
      Meaning: good luck.
